Local teen and high school golfer, Alexis Gopfert, has taken it upon herself to organize a golf tournament next Sunday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. in support of the residents of Rainbow Children's Home! If you would like to participate, please read the letter from Alexis:
Dear Members of Achasta,
My name is Alexis Gopfert and I am a member of the Achasta community. I am very active in golf and it is very important in my life, as well as helping other people. The holiday season is a time for giving and this year with your help, I would like to raise money for the Rainbow Children's Home to give them an unforgettable Christmas!
The Rainbow Children's Home (www.rainbowchildrenshome.org) is a shelter for girls ages 12-17 who have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect, or because they simply have nowhere else to go. To think these girls have no families to go to during the holidays, especially Christmas, is very hard to comprehend. I recently met with the Director of the home and she was very thankful of the idea to raise additional funds for them this year. A special Christmas this year, could really brighten these girls lives!
Because of these young girls, I am running a charity golf tournament at Achasta golf club on December 15th with the goal to raise $2000.00. The entry fee is $80 to play, eat, and raise money! There will be groups of four in a scramble format, and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. If you are unable to play or can not make it to the event, the girls would still love your donation. If you choose to contribute to the cause, the home is a tax deductible organization. Please make your golf fee and/or donation checks payable to Rainbow Children's Home and send to my address 99 Rocker Drive, Dahlonega Georgia 30533. 100% of the proceeds will be given to the home to be used for Christmas gifts for the girls!
Thank you very much for your consideration!
